OUR WHY
Breast cancer stands as the most diagnosed cancer among women in The Bahamas and responsible for over a third (36%) of all new cancer cases detected in 2022. Distressingly, nearly half (48%) of women diagnosed are under the age of 50, with the average age of diagnosis just 42, compared to 62 in more developed countries. Even more alarming: nearly 44% of cases are diagnosed at late stages (Stage 3 or 4), when treatment is most difficult and outcomes most dire.
This is not due to a lack of awareness. It’s due to a lack of access.
Outdated mammography machines in our public hospitals cannot meet the demand for early, accurate screening. But this is a challenge we can overcome together, from the roots.

THE VISION
The Mammogram Movement is a national fundraising initiative to:

Acquire two state-of-the-art mammogram machines

One for Princess Margaret Hospital (Nassau)

One for Rand Memorial Hospital (Freeport)

Secure five years of maintenance for both machines
This campaign is being privately shared with a select group of leaders who can plant something enduring, a future where early detection becomes the norm, not the exception.
